Music Performance Scholarship Winner!
Wwe are pleased to announce that Melanie Goldstein has been chosen to receive a scholarship from the Music Performance Fund.
Melanie will begin her pursuit of a degree in Music Performance at
Stanford
University starting this fall after graduating from
Clayton
High School this spring.
Catherine Lehr, Assistant Principal Cellist, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, has been Melanie’s primary teacher. She has also studied with Hans Jorgen Jensen of
Northwestern
University.
Melanie has earned numerous awards and honors including Principal Cellist, St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2008 and has performed multiple times with the Missouri All-State Orchestra. She was featured as a soloist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra during their December 2007 Holiday Concert series.
The Music Performance Fund (MPF) is a non-profit organization established in 1948 by the recording companies of
North America to promote live music performances by professional musicians. Each year, MPF presents over 10,000 live, admission-free musical programs.
MPF it is funded by the sales of music recordings. Downloaded music sales do not contribute to the fund. This has led to a significant reduction in funds available to the MPF. As a result, the MPF scholarship will not be offered in 2008-2009. |
